About
Jonathan Oldham

Born in Tennessee and raised in North Carolina, Jonathan Oldham is now a flutist, pianist, and musician in Charlotte, North Carolina.
At eleven, Jonathan discovered the flute having been previously inspired by the Irish Tin Whistle. Jonathan desired to play an instrument that had the beauty and simplicity of the Irish Whistle, but also featured greater complexity and virtuosity. The flute offered just that. Within a couple years, he began taking private lessons with flutist, performer, and pedagog, Catherine LeGrand. Under her teaching, Jonathan's passion for music and the flute grew exponentially, leading to performances with bands and orchestras on stages such as the Schermerhorn in Nashville, Tennessee (2019) and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. (2020).
While in High School, Jonathan participated in the Youth Orchestra of Charlotte as Principal flutist (2022) and had the honor to actively serve on the Raleigh Area Flute Association board as the High School Representative (2021-2022). During his time with the Raleigh Area Flute Association, Jonathan also went on to win the SoloFest Competition (2019) and compete as a finalist in the Artist Competition (2021).
Returning to Tennessee for a time, Jonathan received his Bachelor of Music in flute performance (2026) at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) under the teaching and musicianship of Dr. Deanna Hahn. While at Middle Tennessee State University, he had the opportunity to perform as a finalist in the Raleigh Area Flute Association Artist Competition (2022 and 2023) and the National Flute Association Collegiate Flute Choir (2023). An active member on campus as well, he participated in the following ensembles during his time at MTSU: Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Flute Choir, Chamber Winds, Chamber Ensemble, and Pit Orchestra.
Jonathan enjoys combining his passion for performing and teaching in a way that seeks to lean into the intricacies and creative beauty that music has to offer.
In his free time, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his family and working on his family farm back in North Carolina.
